There are several other organizations that offer credentials/certifications to it's members. Since the sites do not offer a search tool to find it's members they are listed here just for your reference.

The BBB - check the rating on any debt company. If they are not listed it is because they are not a member and have no complaints against them. Most debt settlement companies are not members because they are almost always given a low rating regardless of the number of complaints.

International Association of Debt Arbitrators - a trade organization that certifies members in debt counseling

The Association of Settlement Companies offers it's members an optional certification in debt settlement services.

Use the Google search:Type in your states name followed by the words "attorney generals office". Then search for the company in question to see if there are any complaints.

Use the Google search: Type in your states name followed by department of corporations. Then search for the company in question to see if there are any violations.

NACBA is the only national organization dedicated to serving the needs of consumer bankruptcy attorneys and protecting the rights of consumer debtors in bankruptcy. Search the directory for an attorney.
